About
You have a confession. I know you do. It’s ok, we all have them. You may not have acknowledged it but it’s within you. Let’s acknowledge some of your confessions. Confess. It’s difficult wanting to know information that pertains to your health or the health of your loved ones. You can admit you’re afraid to get bad news. Confess. You find it daunting surfing through all of the information on the internet, not knowing what’s true and what’s not. Not only is the information sometimes hard to understand but it can also be downright boring and offers no personal perspective. Confess. You want to know signs and symptoms of cancer in order to be more health aware. You can admit, you want additional insight of how to best care for and support a family member with cancer. Confess. You’ve suffered loss and grief and feel as though no one can truly relate. Or perhaps, your situation is different. You’ve been struggling to breastfeed a baby who refuses to latch. You can admit you’re frustrated and feel guilty about it. Confess. You’ve lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant loss and are impacted by disenfranchised grief. Plus, you feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself in the process.
You can admit that though you weren’t impacted directly, your sister, your best friend or your coworker was impacted. Confess. You seek information. You seek knowledge. You want to be inspired and encouraged. Confess. You want to have tools to help yourself and others. You want help to live a healthier life. Admit it. You want all these things and more but you want it in an unconventional way.
Here’s my confession, I’ve been there. I’m here for you and I’m here to help. I’m Coretta Collins, a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I have quite a bit of life experience to go along with my medical and nursing experience that spans over a decade. This gives me a unique perspective and opportunity! I’m able to share stories and experiences from a personal and professional perspective while educating and inspiring you! You should leave my site empowered to be a better support person to your friends and family. If you are directly impacted by many of the issues discussed you should leave my site encouraged and more knowledgeable to improve your health, your mindset and your attitude.
Currently, I serve patients with cancer and blood diseases at a community hematology and oncology practice. I also have experience in primary care and women’s health. I wish to impart knowledge in an engaging and practical way. Additionally, I’m a wife and mother who enjoys family time, music, movies, traveling, reading and of course writing. I’m available to serve for speaking engagements, workshops, support groups, educational events and more. See you on my blog, Confessions of a Nurse Practitioner!
